Enea Strengthens Gas Supply Security Through Access to the FSRU 2 Terminal

This is an important step towards building a flexible gas supply portfolio and strengthening Poland’s energy security.

The FSRU 2 terminal will be a new floating facility enabling the reception of liquefied natural gas (LNG), its regasification, and its injection into the national transmission system. The infrastructure is planned to be built in the Baltic Sea, in the Gulf of Gdańsk area, complementing the FSRU 1 project already under development.

Thanks to the agreement, Enea will gain access to the global LNG market. This will provide greater flexibility in contracting gas supplies from different sources and better preparation for changing market conditions.

The planned capacity of the FSRU 2 terminal is 6.1 billion cubic metres of gas per year. The project is significant not only for the company itself, but also for Poland’s domestic gas market and the wider Central and Eastern European region. Increased import capacity could contribute to further diversification of supplies and reduce dependence on individual sources of gas.

Access to the new terminal is part of Enea’s broader efforts related to the energy transition and the development of stable fuel supplies for the power sector. Natural gas, as a transition fuel, can support the shift away from more carbon-intensive technologies while helping to maintain the stability of the energy system during this period of transformation.
